When the team at Wardle approached us with their vision for Yiaga – Hugh Allen’s extraordinary new Melbourne dining destination – the brief was to create a building that felt less like a structure and more like an extension of its surrounding Fitzroy Gardens.
To achieve Wardle's vision, we looked to the earth itself. We developed a bespoke blend of clays sourced locally in Stawell, keeping the material as raw as possible. Rather than refining the clay to a smooth finish, we allowed it to remain rough and expressive. The goal was to capture the "perfect imperfection" of nature.
We are incredibly proud to have worked with such a dedicated team to bring Yiaga to life, proving once again that when you pair bold architectural thinking with traditional artisan manufacturing, the result is timeless.
