Set within the heritage-rich context of South Yarra’s prestigious Hawksburn precinct, Hawksburn House is a masterclass in contextual modernism. Designed by Lande Architects, the four-bedroom residence replaces the site’s original structure with a highly considered, design-led home. While it is a completely new build, the architecture thoughtfully integrates with its historical surroundings by reimagining traditional materials through a distinctly contemporary lens, quietly redefining modern family living.
To harmonise with the scale and rhythm of the neighbouring period homes, the striking facade champions our Empress Bricks in the pale, highly textured ‘Ghost’ blend. The unique design vision called for something special, and Krause Bricks was tasked with creating intricate custom shapes – specifically our R900mm Curves and Transitions – to bring it to life. These bespoke, sweeping masonry curves soften the building’s lines, creating a fluid, sculptural form that guides you toward the entrance.

While the interior features generous living areas flooded with natural light, it is the home’s external brickwork – anchored by the enduring quality and intricate detailing of our custom clay shapes – that truly sets the project apart.
The result is a residence where the timeless, tactile nature of Krause Bricks creates an architecture of incredible proportion and refined presence.
