Situated at the historic Geelong College Senior Campus, the Belerren Sports and Wellbeing Centre is a world-class training and educational facility designed to promote student health and excellence. Named after the local Waddawurrung word for ‘to shine’, the purpose-built gymnasium and wellness centre by Wardle seamlessly transforms the western edge of the senior campus, acting as a powerful anchor for the broader sporting precinct.
To ensure this significant new addition sat in concert with the campus’s heritage buildings and nestled naturally into the existing hillside, the design team selected our classic 76mm Bricks in Autumn. The rich, earthy tones and highly tactile finish of the brickwork provide a robust and grounding exterior. This beautiful bespoke masonry is featured prominently across the facade and colonnades, creating a beautifully muted entry portal that complements both the built and natural environment.
To seamlessly honour the surrounding heritage fabric, the design incorporates 10,000 bespoke, hand-cut Krause Bricks.
By pairing forward-thinking educational design with the enduring, traditional qualities of our custom clay bricks, Belerren delivers an exceptional, long-lasting environment that allows students to truly shine both on and off the field.
