Situated in a quiet coastal pocket backing onto the Thirteenth Beach Golf Course, Barwon Heads House by Neil Architecture is a beautiful study in site-responsive design. The property is delicately nestled between two distinct landscapes – native coastal scrub to the rear and an established garden featuring mature tuart gums at the front. Carefully positioned to celebrate both, the home creates a calm, inviting sense of enclosure perfectly attuned to its natural surroundings.
Originally designed as a modest summer retreat before capturing the clients’ hearts as a permanent residence, the dwelling relies on a robust, natural material palette to establish its relaxed coastal character. Central to this aesthetic is the striking use of our Krause Emperor Bricks in Ghost. The elongated profile of the Emperor brick beautifully accentuates the home’s clean horizontal lines, while the tactile, handcrafted finish of the clay provides an earthy warmth that grounds the structure seamlessly into the site.
